Darius pulled up the driveway to their house and slowly helped a wobbly Karolli inside. He laid her down on the sofa and ushered Matt inside. After Matt was settled, Darius walked over to the kitchen and began to make some tea to help Karolli. Karolli slowly sat up, trying not to overexert herself. She gave a sigh and then faced Matt. She shot him a weak smile and then asked, "So what would you like to know about our history?"
Karolli sighed. She wished Matt didn't ask to know so much, but she had offered to tell him. She accepted her tea from Darius and then took a big sip. Darius put his arm around her and Karolli set her tea on her table. She propped her legs beside her and then began her very long story. "Alright, well, I am Karolli McSair and he is Darius Hall, as you know. I am a witch and he is a werewolf. However, we used to be ah, part of a certain group, I suppose you could say. It was run by Helena and Farris Marker, two very powerful magical beings. Um, you see, Helena was a witch and Farris was a warlock. However, Farris was also a werewolf. " Karolli said, looking uncomfortable. Darius gave her a tight squeeze and she barely smiled. Taking a deep breath, Karolli continued. "They had this very large and very intimidating power over a few cities in the world, and ran the cities with an iron grip. I stumbled into their services after being stolen from my room when I was five years old. Helena was always looking for children to see if they were witches or warlocks. If they were, she kept them. If not, she returned them. However, her husband, Farris, liked to keep a few to expand his vampires and werewolves." "When Helena found me, she was amazed by my power. She showed me to Farris and they agreed to raise me--to keep me--as their own daughter. However, their one and only child, didn't like that." At this point in the story, Darius let out a little whine at the back of his throat. "I was a spoiled eight-year-old. I didn't want anyone else to steal my spotlight." He interrupted. Karolli kissed his cheek and then said, "Hush. Let me finish." Darius took Karolli's hand and she turned back to Matt, winking. "Anyways, Helena gave me to a pair of vampires to raise me and visited me daily to teach me the skills and spells every young witch should know. And after years and years, I got better and better at magic until I was a complete master, being able to deflect armies of vampires or werewolves with a simple flick of my wrist." "And then came the challenge. When Helena had been teaching me the skills of being a witch, Farris was teaching his little son Darius the skills of being a werewolf. Although Darius was only a werewolf hybrid, he was still the granted the power and strength of a werewolf. The only difference was that he didn't have to shift into a full werewolf every full moon. It's optional for him. Well anyways, one day Helena came to me and told me I was going to battle against a very fierce opponent and that if I won, I would be granted the right to the 'throne', as they put it. I would inherit their armies and the cities they controlled." "--But they didn't realize how close Karolli and I had become. They didn't know how much we cared for each other and how we loved each other. They pitted us against each other to tear each other apart and kill each other!" Darius yelled furiously, interrupting and standing up abruptly. Karolli closed her eyes at the memory and murmured, "Darius, your temper." Darius splayed out his fingers and then sat back down, but in front of Karolli and on the floor. Karolli took in another shaky breath and whispered, "Yes. They tried to have us fight against each other. But they failed, because we didn't do it. We turned against Helena and Farris and ran away. Darius changed his last name to 'Hall' and I changed mine to 'McSair'. And we've been on the run ever since, except sometimes...sometimes Helena's spies and Farris' werewolves find us. We'll never live in peace again unless we kill them or we kill each other..."
(Matt sorry! I'm always playing two characters, one named Matt and one named Tyler and I'm ALWAYS getting them mixed up!)
"I suggest we kill them," Matt growled angerily. He hated being a werewolf, he hated being a killer, but this was the only option. To save his new friends as well as a threat to his town.
Karolli shook her head. "Matt, you don't understand. Sure, I'm the greatest at magic, but Helena's the one that taught me everything I know." "And...Father is the one who taught me everything I know. To track them down and kill them would be suicide. Let's just focus on helping you with your problem, okay?" Darius asked calmly, trying to defuse Matt.
Darius sighed in relief as Matt backed down and rested his head on Karolli's lap again. She stroked his hair, thinking of ways to help Matt and then asked, "Well, I could use the more traditional methods and create you a ring, but those get so easily smashed..."
Karolli sighed. "Now what would be the easiest way to help you? Oh wait, I'm so silly. Um, Matt, what is it that you want? Are you afraid of losing control? Or do you want to be able to shift into a wolf whenever you want?"
Matt thought for a moment. "I never wanted to be a werewolf. I don't want to be able to shift whenever I want. I'm afraid of losing control. I don't want to hurt anyone, and I have a short temper, if I loose it, I'd probably hurt or possibly kill someone."
Karolli nodded. She took in a deep breath and said then, "Well, then in that case, I can...well, I can do this thing where you would have a control inside of your mind, right? And if you were close to losing control, you would sort of tense up. Either that, or I could link you to Darius. If your temper got too out of control, Darius could help you calm down." Darius let out a bored yawn and added, "I'd go with the second option, Matt. It's wayy safer than the first."
Karolli nodded. "Okay. Well, here goes nothing." Karolli walked over to the kitchen, grabbed a large kitchen knife, and walked back to the living room. She dove on top of Matt, pinned him down and grabbed his hand. She wrapped it around the knife and then yanked it out of his grip. Matt hissed at the knife cut his skin and Karolli turned to Darius. Darius held out his hand and Karolli cut him as well. She then made them grab each other's hand and murmured something in a foreign language. Matt and Darius' hands began to glow and then a sharp pain drove up from each other's hands through their whole body. Darius collapsed and took Matt down as well. Karolli ran over to Darius and murmured, "Check, check." Darius looked at Matt intently and thought, Matt, can you hear me?
Okay, that's good. It means the spell worked. Darius thought. He nodded to Karolli and she sighed in relief. She healed Darius' hand first and then bandaged up Matt's. "I would use magic on yours," She explained, "But I feel as if it's better if you keep the scar to remind you. And to bind you to us. Not to control you, but to help you." Darius rolled his eyes at Karolli and then said, "What she's trying to say is that if you ever need any help, let us help you. And we would like to be able to rely on you, should anything happen with us."
Matt rolled his eyes. "I'm not going to leave you guys. Actually... you are the only friends I have aside from Caroline but I feel as if we are drifting apart recently."
Karolli's eyes softened at Matt. She walked over to him and gave him a a hug. "It's because of your secret," She mumbled in his ear. "Caroline feels left out that we know something, but she doesn't." Karolli then pulled away and crossed her arms. She thought for a moment and then sighed. "I can't believe I'm about to say this, but I think you should bring Caroline here and tell her." Karolli said, sighing at herself.
"W-what? No! That'll cause to much harm for her! I don't want to see anyone hurt. She can't known! She must'nt!" Matt paused and sighed. "She'll hate me..."
Karolli looked away from Matt and then said, "I know you're afraid of her hating you, but Matt, you'll still be Matt to her, just slightly different. I mean, if you were able to act normal around her with your curse, how different will you be after you told her? Hardly different at all, but it'll just be easier for you to be around her."
"I guess," Matt smirked slightly. "Thanks Karolli," Matt stood and planted a kiss on Karolli's cheek. "I honestly don't know what I coudl've done without you two. I'd be tearing through the forest killing every bunny in my path," he joked.
Karolli winked at Matt as he kissed her cheek and then replied, "Well, go get Caroline and bring her here. It'll help if we're here when you tell her."
"Alright, will do." Matt left and drove to Caroline's house. She was watching t.v. He made up an excuse for her to come with him and drove back to the Hall house.
Karolli watched as Matt drove away and felt Darius staring at her. She kept looking out the window, but didn't turn. "What, Darius? What did I do wrong?" Karolli asked, sighing. Darius walked over to her and turned her around and growled, "You know very well that we can't help them. We've got to be on the run, Karolli. Helping people and leaving behind a trail is not a good idea." Karolli narrowed her eyes and hissed, "Helena can't find me. She might have taught me a lot, but I learned a few things on my own." Darius sighed and then walked away. After waiting for ten minuets, he heard Karolli snap, "Matt's back."
Karolli put a hand on Caroline's shoulder and said, "It's okay, Caroline. We're here to help Matt, but to help him...he has to tell you something. I don't want you to get angry with him; he did this for your protection."

ReplyDelete[ LOL, who's Tyler?? ]
